A short check of your tongue, throat, and the soft tissue of your mouth, done at every exam rather than only when something hurts.
A visual and physical check of your lips, tongue, the floor and roof of your mouth, the back of your throat, and the lymph nodes in your neck.
Dr. Ladhar looks and feels for sores that have not healed, white or red patches, lumps, and areas of thickening, and compares what she finds to your previous visits.
Caught early, oral cancer is very treatable. Caught late, it is not. The screening costs you two minutes at an appointment you are already at.

Everyone at every exam. Risk is higher with tobacco, heavy alcohol use, HPV, and sun exposure to the lips, but a meaningful share of cases occur in people with none of those.
You put your tongue in a few directions while Dr. Ladhar looks, and she feels along your jaw and neck. Two minutes, no discomfort, no equipment.
Two to three minutes, folded into your regular exam. It is not a separate appointment and not a separate charge.
Tell us about any sore, patch, or lump that has been there more than two weeks, even if it does not hurt. Painless is not the same as harmless here.
Nothing. If something looks worth investigating, we refer you for a biopsy rather than watching it, and we help you get that appointment quickly.
